A pit bull that fell into the frozen Manzanita Lake at the University of Nevada has died, and a rescue attempt by his owner came close to tragedy. The dog was with its owner on campus Thursday afternoon, and followed something, maybe geese, onto the frozen lake, then fell through. The dog’s owner started toward the dog to pull it out, and fell in himself. He got out on his own and was treated by paramedics on scene but not hospitalized.
