NHP troopers say a man died over the weekend in a fatal collision near Glenbrook on Highway 50 because of ice on the road. Troopers were called around 9:40pm Saturday to reports of two vehicles colliding. After an investigation they determined Mexican National Carlos Ortega Gomez was driving eastbound on Highway 50 when his Toyota Corolla crossed over the divider, began spinning out of control, ending up in westbound lanes, and directly in the path of 59 year old Virgilio Ballesteros’ Subaru. Neither driver was injured, but the right front passenger of the Toyota Corolla, 36 year old Aquiles Molero of Los Angeles, died of injuries he received during the accident.
