Sparks police say 38 year old Silvio Alvarado-Morales refused to put down a knife, even after being hit with a taser by Reno Police, which had no effect on him. He then fought with officers, one of whom shot him several times. Sparks Detective Ken Gallop says the initial investigation indicates police didn’t have many choices.  Alvarado had held the knife to his own throat, and there were indications of a self inflicted wound.  Alvarado- Morales is also blamed for starting a four vehicle chain reaction crash, that preceded the shooting near Meadowood Mall.
