Governor Brian Sandoval named Steve Canavero as the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, effective immediately. Sandoval made this decision after interviews with each of the three candidates who were recommended by the State Board of Education. Prior to this appointment, Canavero was named Interim-Superintendent after then Superintendent Dale Erquiaga joined Governor Sandoval’s staff as Chief Strategy Officer. The Governor says, Canavero has been instrumental is implementing the sweeping reforms and successfully fulfilling the mission, behind the unprecedented investment recently made in Nevada’s public education system.
