The Sparks City Council approved a $20 million bond, which will pay for the third phase of the North Truckee Drain Realignment. The project will direct the drain further downstream of the Truckee River to the east of Vista Boulevard. The realignment is expected to minimize flooding in the Sparks Industrial area, which was inundated in the 1997 flood. Total cost is expected to be $27 million, $19 million of which will be financed, the rest will be paid by city of Sparks sewer customers.
