Health officials are reporting a rise in STDs in Washoe County on the heels of a syphilis outbreak in Las Vegas. The rise in syphilis in Clark County has given Nevada the highest rate in the west. In Washoe County, there’s been an increase in every STD across the board. Gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis have all been on the rise since 2009-2010, but it’s gonorrhea that’s seen the most drastic spike. Since 2013, the number of cases has risen by about 40%.
