Governor Brian Sandoval says this year is off to an encouraging start in the Silver State. His comment came after reports that unemployment in Nevada in January fell to its lowest point since the middle of 2008. Nevada added 7,800 jobs in January, that means a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 6.2 percent during the first month of the year, according to the latest report from the Nevada Department of Employment and Training and Rehabilitation. The rate is a slight improvement over December’s 6.3 percent. Chief economist Bill Anderson says coming off of its recessionary high of 13.7 percent, the jobless rate has declined from the previous month, or held steady, every month since October 2010.
