The most seaworthy battleship in the history of America’s modern Navy fleet, the USS Nevada, marks another milestone in its illustrious service. Today the USS Nevada will be honored for the centennial of its commissioning, during a ceremony on the State Capitol grounds. The ceremony is at noon and features Gov. Brian Sandoval, Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, USS Nevada Sailor and Pearl Harbor survivor Charles Sehe. The Keynote speaker is Commander William “Grady” Musser, Fallon Naval Airstation. This fighting ship saw action during World War II at Pearl Harbor, Alaska, Normandy, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. The first Medal of Honor of World War II was awarded to a USS Nevada crew member.
