The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees will open a new bidding process with companies interested in providing milk products to the 64,000 students in the District. Model Dairy currently holds the contract, in an agreement finalized in 2014. During that bidding process, Model Dairy and Anderson Dairy of Las Vegas competed. The Board awarded the milk contract to Model Dairy, due to its local workforce, and commitment to the community, and its decades-long relationship with the district, But Anderson Dairy initially submitted the lowest bid. The new bidding process is being reopened to comply with federal codes, that require the lowest bid.
