Politi-fact is going after some Nevada Republicans who are claiming that they actually cut taxes in 2015, despite a “record” tax package estimated at $1.4 billion. Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson, who’s running for the state’s open 3rd Congressional District Seat, has claimed in candidate forums and on campaign flyers that lawmakers “permanently cut taxes for over 95 percent of Nevada’s businesses.” He cites changes to the payroll tax, but Politi-fact says no businesses in Nevada saw their net tax bill decrease, and rates the claim as “False.”
