The Washoe County Republican Party  holds its county convention Saturday. The county conventions  allocate delegates to the state convention,  they winnow down at the state convention and allocate delegates to the national convention who choose a nominee.  Participants can propose platform changes for the state convention and will also elect a new central committee. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. at the Grand Sierra Resort and it’s $60 to attend. Only registered Republicans are allowed . Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto is the headliner at the Washoe County Democratic Convention.  It will be held at Lawlor Events Center. Check in begins at 8am, the convention starts at 10 am. Democrats hold their state convention in Las Vegas in May.
