Crews in South Lake Tahoe are dealing with an oil spill within the Tahoe Keys. A “sheen” was first noticed on the water Monday morning, and was reported to the California Office of Emergency Services. According to Cathe Pool with the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board, the sheen is within the lagoon of the Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association. There are docks and boats in the area, but it is unclear if any of those boats are the source of the leak. Cal EPA is investigating, and a private contractor, “Clean Harbors” has been called in for the cleanup, which is expected to take a couple of days.
