If the weather’s right, the Truckee Ranger District is planning to burn 40-80 acres of “understory vegetation” near Stampede Reservoir area over the next couple of days. There are only a handful of days when weather, smoke dispersion and fuel conditions are favorable for prescribed fire so they try and take advantage of those days; it’s a very small window of opportunity. They’ve successfully burned about 200 acres over the past week or so.
