Congressman Joe Heck is applauding the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs adoption of The “Grow Our Own Directive.” It’s a bipartisan bill introduced by Heck and Congresswoman Annie Kuster of New Hampshire. The bill is aimed at providing job opportunities for veterans. Dr. Heck says no one is better qualified to care for our veterans than veterans themselves. He says a shortage of physicians and Physician Assistants within the VA, makes this program long overdue. This idea is to train former military medics as Physicians Assistants.
