The Department of Wildlife was forced to euthanize a bear last week that was making appearances at Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe. The bear broke into a cooler and was chased away by non lethal hazing, which he resisted. When he returned the same day in spite of the harassment, he had to be captured. That’s when the decision was made to euthanize the bear, in the interest of public safety. The bear was a 2-yr-old male that weighed about 150 pounds.
