Reno firefighters knocked down a fire late Wednesday afternoon that threatened homes on La Fond Drive, off Plumb Lane near the Carmelite Monastery. Firefighters say it started as a brush fire in an empty lot between homes and quickly spread. One home was damaged before flames were extinguished. Ten homes were threatened and residents were asked to leave during the firefight.  All residents have since returned home.
