Crews Knock Down Small Fire South of Reno

Firefighters put out a small brush fire south of Reno Sunday afternoon. Crews from the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and Reno Fire Department responded to the fire near South Virginia Street and Rhodes Avenue before 1 p.m. The fire burned about a 50×60-foot area of brush and grass on private property. He said the homeowners helped with the firefight by throwing dirt and water on the flames before firefighters arrived. Officials said there were no reports of injuries or damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
