Nevada Is Not Last In Education

Nevada is not dead last in education. The state is now second-to-last, according to the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s annual “Kids Count” report. The report  found Nevada improved on four key education indicators between 2008 and 2014. The share of young children not in school, decreased from 70 percent in 2007, to 68 percent in more recently. The Silver State also posted a double-digit-percentage decline in the number of high school students who don’t graduate on time. That rate fell from 44 percent in 2007-08 to 33 percent in 2012-13.  Only New Mexico ranked worse than Nevada for its overall education outcomes in the latest Kids Count report.
