Some members of the Reno City Council were ready to make a bold statement about blight, and order the demolition of two empty downtown motels, right at the Virginia Street gateway, but then they decided to put it off for another month. They’re doing that on the hope that someone might step up, in the next 30 days, buy the properties, and renovate them. The motels have been vacant for several years. Removal of the Golden West and Heart O’ Town motels, would cost more than 200 thousand dollars.
