Fire restrictions go into effect Thursday, June 30, for the Plumas National Forest. No open fires, campfires or charcoal fires outside of designated areas will be allowed, even with a California Campfire Permit. Fires can only be started in pits built by the U.S. Forest Service. Smoking is only allowed in an enclosed vehicle, building or designated site. Vehicles with internal combustion engines can only use National Forest system roads, routes, trails, and areas identified on the Plumas National Forest Motor Vehicle Use Map. People riding on trails are asked to be careful. No fire restrictions have been announced yet for the Tahoe National forest, the Lake Tahoe Management Unit of the U.S. Forest Service or the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
