A water main break Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Stewart Street and Kirman Avenue created a sinkhole in the road, which swallowed a Land Rover driving through the area. The SUV’s passengers escaped and 2 were treated for minor injuries. Water service was temporarily shut off and restored to residents late Saturday night. The 900 block of Stewart Street near Kirman Avenue will be closed until further notice, because street repairs may take several days.
