Fire Association Reaches Agreement With City

The Reno Firefighters Association reached a preliminary agreement with the City of Reno to partially staff closed fire stations in the Skyline/Caughlin Ranch and Somersett neighborhoods with medical response units.  The two-person units will improve response times for medical calls to these neighborhoods, but they will remain without dedicated fire engines.  The agreement with the City will go part of the way to restoring full emergency response capabilities for the Skyline/Caughlin Ranch and Somersett neighborhoods.  Despite these changes, the surrounding neighborhoods will continue to have significantly delayed fire response times. The agreement follows years of discussions with City officials and several failed attempts by the Firefighters Association to negotiate an agreement with the previous City Council and Fire Administrations.
