Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation says the unemployment rate increased to 6.4% in June.  That’s up from 6.1% in May and from 5.8% in April. They say, however, that the state experienced strong job growth. Governor Brian Sandoval says June’s employment gains marked the strongest monthly showing in 11 years, with 7,500 new jobs. The jobless rate was at its highest at 13.7% at the height of the recession in 2010. Year-over-year, Nevada’s employment reading stands 34,400 above the same month last year, for a growth rate of 2.7%. Washoe County’s unemployment rate for last May, the latest figures available, was 5.5%.
