Governor Brian Sandoval leaves for Australia today for a two-week trade mission focused on mining, gambling and water technology. Others on the trip include the president of the University of Nevada, Reno, the president of the Nevada Mining Association, and representatives from the Southern Nevada Water Authority. Australia is Nevada’s 10th largest trading partner, with $149 million in imports and exports between the country and the state last year. Nevada and Australia both have significant mining and tourism industries. The delegation will visit Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, where they’ll meet with government officials and industry leaders in hopes of creating new business opportunities with the country.
