Volunteers of America, in partnership with the Washoe County School District’s Children in Transition program, are stocking up for Operation Backpack, an effort to get school supplies into the hands of kids that need them. The Children in Transition program works with over 3,600 kids in our community that are homeless, living in shelters and abandoned buildings, or their parent’s car, and don’t have money to buy what’s required for school. That’s where Operation Backpack comes into play.  The deadline to donate to Operation Backpack is next Thursday, the 28th, and the back packs will be handed out on Friday, the 29th.
