Smoke affecting the air quality in the Truckee Meadows is coming from a large fire in Monterey County. More than 15,000 acres have burned and 20 homes have been destroyed in the fire that started July 22nd north of Big Sur. The fire is 10% contained, with no estimate of full containment. No cause has been determined. There are mandatory evacuations in surrounding areas. Because of the smoke, Washoe County Air Quality says air is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
