Storey County is actively recruiting volunteer firefighters. Applicants must be 16 years and older. Those accepted in the program train and serve alongside career firefighters and paramedics, serving in a variety of capacities. Storey County volunteers are trained to respond to structure fires, wild land fires, emergency medical response, vehicle accidents, natural disasters and hazardous materials response. Volunteers receive twice-monthly training, are required to respond to a minimum of two calls and participate in community and social events. Learn more at storeycounty.org
