Aggressive panhandlers are being targeted by the Reno Police. Chief Jason Soto went over the rules and laws of soliciting with the Reno City Council Wednesday. Soto reminded residents and the council, soliciting within 20 feet of doorways, near banks and ATM’s and on public roadways is illegal. Giving donations to people along roadways is also illegal, except on private property. Chief Soto told the council he believes donating to various agencies that assist the poor and homeless is a better idea, that dishing out donations to panhandlers.
