Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve will call for an independent counsel to investigate allegations of sexual harassment against City Manager Andrew Clinger. She will also call a special meeting of the Reno City Council to discuss it. Clinger is facing allegations of sexual harassment from three city employees, according to an open meeting complaint filed with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office. Reno lawyer Bill Peterson sent a letter Friday to Chief Deputy Attorney General Brett Kandt asserting the investigation against Clinger was not being handled by the Reno City Council, but by people over whom Clinger has influence. Clinger released a statement Saturday that called the allegations of sexual harassment “utterly ridiculous” and said he welcomed the allegations to be scrutinized publicly since he has done nothing wrong.
