A man who stabbed an elderly person in the neck with a screwdriver has been convicted of battery with a deadly weapon. The conviction of 31 year old Daniel James Rodriguez, carries an enhancement because the attack was on an a victim over 60. Rodriguez faces an additional 20 years in prison, besides a possible 3 to 30 year term. Reno police caught up with him last September, when he tried to steal beer from a convenience store, and refused to sign a citation. They noticed a cut on his forehead, and realized he was wanted in connection with the attack at a downtown motel.
