Well Owners Rights Threatened By State

People who own private water wells in Nevada, are afraid the state water commisioner is coming after their water.  They say the Nevada Water Commission is trying to force water meters on all domestic wells, at the owners expense, and wants to cut their right to water from 2 acre feet per year to 1/2 acre foot per year. A cut of 75%.  Water use would also be limited to household use only, with no outside watering of any kind. Essentially they’d be charged for using water from their own wells. They call it a “Regulatory Taking,” by the government. The legislative commission’s subcommitee to study water holds hearings on all this Friday (August 26th)  at 9am at 401 South Carson street.
