Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has released the names of two people killed after an SUV went off a cliff in Carson City, August 22nd. The victims were 16-year-old Edwin Rico, a Carson High School student, and 24-year-old Christopher Gonzales also of Carson City. Furlong says it appears Rico had been driving, and that neither victim was wearing a seatbelt, but the 22-year-old survivor was. The man who survived was treated for minor injuries by paramedics, according to Sheriff Furlong, but declined to be taken to a hospital. The crash is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, and being assisted by accident reconstruction team from the Nevada Highway Patrol.
