District Holds Final Overcrowding Meeting

Reality is setting in for parents in Washoe County, as they learn overcrowding could drastically change their children’s school schedule.  These changes were discussed in a town-hall meeting Monday night. The biggest concern for most parents in the district are double sessions, and if you have multiple children it’s no guarantee they would go to school at the same time.  In November, ballot question WC-1 will allow voters to approve or deny a half-percent increase in sales tax. Supporters say over time, this would provide the money needed for the district to make these new schedules only temporary – by building new schools and repairing existing facilities.
