Sparks Gets a New Fire Chief

The City of Spark’s new fire chief will be sworn-in today. Christopher Maples is succeeding Tom Garrison, who is retiring. Sparks City Manager Steve Driscoll said the city has a tradition of selecting a new chief from the ranks. Maples has worked for the Sparks fire department for 21 years, moving up from firefighter to operator, captain, battalion chief, division chief, and now, Sparks Fire Chief. Sparks Mayor Pro Tem Ron Smith will conduct the swearing-in and badge pinning ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Sparks Council Chambers.
