An opponent of WC-1, the tax hike for school repairs and construction, has filed suit challenging the legality of the Washoe County ballot measure. Jeffrey Church claims the Washoe Registrar of Voters violated state law, by appointing 4 members to the “Pro Committee” and only 2 members to the “Opposed Committee placing them at a disadvantage.” Church says the law requires three persons per committee, not more or less. He says the imbalance puts the opposition to WC-1 at a disadvantage and that the ballot verbiage includes a pro-WC1 rebuttal, but not an opposition rebuttal. The lawsuit names the the Washoe County Commissioners, Washoe County and Luanne Cutler, Washoe County Registrar of Voters.
