The Reno Puck Club is looking to bring an East Coast Hockey League franchise to Reno by next season. Ken Lehner of the Reno Puck Club tells KOLO 8, Reno is the largest city in the United States that doesn’t have any ice at present. So there’s an exciting opportunity to make that happen. The ECHL is a minor league hockey league, similar to Double-A in baseball. The team would play their home games at the Reno Events Center downtown. Part of the pitch would be to generate revenue by selling the naming rights to the Events Center. Reno City Council unanimously approved city staff entering into an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement between the City of Reno, Reno Puck Club, and the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority.
