Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan has handed down an eight to 20 year sentence for a repeat offender. Last November, Reno Police and detectives from the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program arrested Nathaniel Williams as part of a burglary investigation. Williams had broken into a home, stealing numerous items including multiple firearms. Leading to the arrest, Reno Police tried to stop Williams in traffic shortly after the burglary, but he sped away and crashed into a fence and tree. He forced his way into a nearby home and barricaded himself. After a several hour standoff, a SWAT team arrested him. Detectives recovered all the stolen property and firearms, which were returned to the owners. Williams, who already had a lengthy criminal history, remained in custody throughout the criminal proceedings. Williams pleaded guilty to burglary, home invasion, and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
