Tahoe Bears Don’t Like Selfies

U.S. Forest Service is reminding everyone who plans to head to Taylor Creek Visitor Center in South Lake Tahoe for the salmon spawn on the way, don’t take any bear selfies. It’s been a big problem out at the park, so much so that rangers considered closing the park altogether last year. Keep in mind that bears are going into hyperphasia, eating thousands of calories every day to get ready for hibernation, so you will see them if you go, just don’t try to get too close. The Forest Service plans to give visitors another chance this year to do the right thing, but if people continue to ignore the rules, they will close until the spawn is over.
