Firefighters have stopped progress of the Frontage fire burning south of Gardnerville along U.S. 395 and the roadway has been reopened. The blaze was stopped at about 75 acres, but not before burning one home and three outbuildings. The Douglas County Sheriff’s office says a voluntary evacuation for the Ruhenstroth area has been lifted. East Fork Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Dave Fogerson says firefighters were helped by light rain, a decrease in winds and cooler temperatures. The cause has not been determined, but investigators say the fire may have been human-caused.
