The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has learned that individuals are calling members of the community and identifying themselves as a deputy from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The caller tells the resident that they failed to show up for jury duty, and have an active warrant. The impersonator even states dates of notices and case numbers. They then direct residents to wire money or to purchase a pre-paid credit card to make a payment. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office does not telephone residents to advise them of warrants or subpoenas for jury duty.
