The Washoe County School Board of Trustees unanimously approved a plan to ease overcrowding in 14 schools. More than $300,000 will be spent to buy portable buildings for Whitehead Elementary and Winemucca Elementary schools. Alice Smith Elementary School will adopt a multi-track schedule as part of its management plan. Silver Lake Elementary School will move its 5th graders to Cold Springs Middle School, and Lemmon Valley Elementary will move its 6th graders to O’Brien Middle School. Superintendent Traci Davis recommended moving Brown, Double Diamond, Spanish Springs and Westergard to multi-track, year-round schedules.
