Members of the American Indian Movement of Northern Nevada are calling for the Federal Justice Department to investigate Reno Police, and for Police Chief Jason Soto to resign. This after a young man who hit five protesters with a truck initially wasn’t arrested, and then was charged with, “provoking an assault.” Two of the protesters were charged with battery, for punching 18 year old Nick Mahaffey and his passenger in the face. They say they were responding to harassment, when Mahaffey drove his truck through protesters, sending 59 year old Kitty Colbert to the hospital with a broken pelvis.
