This year’s Halloween Horse Show at Maplewood Stables benefits a Washoe Valley farm affected by the Little Valley Fire. Owner Julie Winkel says i’s a benefit for the Bowen family, to rebuild the barn they lost in the fire. Next month, Maplewood Stables is hosting a free event to teach people how to handle horses in emergency situations. It will teach them how to handle horses, how to put a halter on a horse, how to lead a horse out of a burning building and how to load a horse. The class is set for noon on Sunday, November 27. It’s free and open to everyone. For more information call 849-1849.
