The Nevada Department of Wildlife released a black bear, who was trapped over the weekend, after catching it near the 580 freeway. The female bear, dubbed “Blue 59” for her collar and number, was found dangerously close to Interstate 580 and the Mt. Rose Hwy. The NDOW team took her up to the Thomas Creek area, and let her go, tailed by several Karelian Bear dogs. NDOW says this is the first time they’ve seen this bear, and hope the aversion methods used will keep her from coming back into town.
