How did Question One, the controversial background check initiative pass in gun friendly Nevada? It was Las Vegas, and only Las Vegas.  Of the states 2.8 million people, more than two million people live in Las Vegas. The Background check initiative lost in 16 of the states counties, but a decisive win in Sin City put the measure over the top. In Washoe County a little more than 45% of voters approved background checks, which lost by much bigger margins across the rest of the state. For example in Elko and Churchill counties, background checks had the support of about 18% of voters, in Lyon County it was about 23% yes, in Eureka County fewer than ten percent of voters supported it. But in Clark County, background checks got nearly 57% approval.
