Two women convicted of Medicaid fraud have been sentenced to a year in jail, and restitution of more than 18 thousand dollars. The investigation began after the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit discovered that the defendants had conspired to create false records for patients in need of rehabilitative mental health services. 40 year old Elizabeth Gerton and 48 year old Charlene Screeton-Petri of Carson City then submitted those claims to Medicaid for payment, without providing any services to those patients. The Attorney General’s office says the fraud was committed between September 2014 and February 2015.
