A 76-year-old homeless man accused of robbing a Reno bank with a steak knife entered a not guilty plea after an unusual exchange with his lawyer. When U.S. Magistrate William Cobb asked for his plea, Tommy Ray McAdoo turned to his lawyer and said, “Guilty or not guilty? It’s up to you.” Public defender Chris Frey recommended not guilty, and McAdoo repeated, “Not guilty.” FBI agents say they found McAdoo eating lunch at a nearby casino shortly after last week’s holdup and asked him what he did for a living. They say he answered: “I used to rob banks.”
