They’ve been trying to take over your computer while you’re on it, but now the fraudulent “Tech support” scammers are calling people at home, offering services you don’t need and putting your information at even more risk.  The AARP Fraud Watch Network is warning consumers about calls from self described experts, claiming to fix a problem on your computer or smart phone, you aren’t aware you have. Lou of Tobian says they pretend to be from Microsoft, Apple or Google.  Typically, the caller will claim to have detected a problem with your computer, then insist you provide a credit card number and allow the remote control your computer. If you are having a problem, call “Tech Support” for your device yourself. The “Help desk” scam has cost Americans 1.5 billion dollars.
