Caesars Doesn’t Want to Use NV Energy

Caesars Entertainment wants to stop buying electricity from NV Energy, and is asking state regulators for approval. Caeser’s is the latest Silver State company to ask permission to buy their power on the open market. MGM Resorts International and Wynn Las Vegas were a couple of the first companies who stopped buying power from NV Energy, but only after paying more than $100 million in fees. Switch is trying to do the same. The PUC will likely charge Caeser’s like they did with other casinos, forcing them to pay an exit fee so they can buy their power elsewhere. Caeser’s is hoping this gets approved because doing so will help them manage their carbon footprint better, and cut costs for the company.
