Following the passage of WC-1, the Washoe County School District is entering into the initial phase of new school construction this week.  Before any bidding or construction can get started, WCSD’s ideas need to be presented to the Capital Funding Protection Committee, which is happening today. If the projects are approved, construction could start early next year. One of the first projects they hope get approval for is the Damonte Ranch High School expansion. Two buildings are planned for construction that will house 22 new classrooms, an provide an additional 36,000 square feet to students.  Two new middle schools are also being considered, one in Sun Valley, and one in the Spanish Springs/Kiley Ranch area.
